We hope that this blog will create an opportunity for people to share their views on Sinn Féin in a positive and constructive manner. We believe positive discussion of our strenghts and weaknesses can help build Sinn Féin into a mass 32 counties wide party. If we do this then we will be on the way to building the Republic that the people of this island deserve. If you would like to submit an article for this site, then post it as a comment or send it to sinnfeinkeepleft@hotmail.com

I'll be there. Aurthur Morgan showed the way and the rest of Sinn Féin should follow. Tomorrow should turn into a riot because the rotten nature of FF, the bankers and the other scum that have made this mess needs to be thrown back in their face. This march must be something like that to wake this country up! We have been robbed and lied to for long enough, why the fuck are we accepting it. RIOT!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe biggest fright the govt has received in the last year was when the older generation protested in a peaceful and forceful manner. It even exposed the hoax that is called the MSM in Ireland as they tried their best to portray the wrinklies as some type of radicalism.
ReplyDeleteI've often thought a march of, say, 100,000 who remained totally and utterly silent would scare the bejaysus out of any govt. All they would have to do is nail a letter of intent (something along the lines that fundamental change is coming to Ireland) to the Dáil gates and just as quietly go away.
The MSM would be lost for a story. The govt knows there is wide spread anger and discontent but it can't spin a story through the MSM. Such a tactic would have the whores sweating into their champers.
TG, we had over 100,000 against the increases in the pension rights and what happened. My own union voted for strike action, but since then they have dropped the issue, because the leadership never wanted to fight it.
ReplyDeleteTodays march will most likely be largely ignored unless it is the start of something even bigger. I personally can totally understand the frustration of the first comment, however much I disagree with it. the only way forward is to force the unions to take a stand, especially given the cuts that are coming.
starry plough,
ReplyDeletecompletely agree with you - esp with the union situation. Just what the f*ck is up with the unions these days? I occassionaly hear some good work done by the smaller unions but the larger unions seem whipped. I belonged to Siptu myself back when I worked in Dublin and my local rep did help me once - with a simple but effective phone call. On large issues, they don't seem to be able to steer an independent course between their ideological underpinnings and common practicalities on the ground. Actually, their predicament isn't unlike some political parties!
The unite speaker, i think it was Jimmy Kelly, on the march yesterday was excellent. Very strong on the whole issues of stopping Nama. Also must say Mary Lou made a good speech about the way the whole government policy is trying to get us back to "economic normality". But that economic reality in terms of house prices etc is not one we want or need to return to.
ReplyDeleteOne of the most interesting features of the march, apart from a poor turnout again, was the plan ot hold vigils every wednesday outside the Dáil. If this is handled correctly this has great potential as a focal point for the campaign agaisnt nama and the upcoming budget. Sinn Féin needs to be at the front o fthese protests.
